Our CSO Surveys

BEARR regularly conducts surveys of civil society organisations (CSOs) across Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia to learn more about their work and the realities they face. The survey gives organisations an opportunity to share their experiences, highlight emerging issues and tell us about the needs they are seeing in their communities.

Over the years, the surveys have explored topics ranging from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to the effects of Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as broader questions about the operating environment for civil society organisations. The findings help us build a better understanding of developments across the region and ensure that BEARR’s grants, events and other activities remain informed by the experiences of local organisations themselves.

We are currently conducting our 2026 CSO survey, which revisits many of the themes explored in 2024 to better understand how the situation for civil society organisations across the region is evolving. The deadline for responses is 31 July 2026.
